Sure, it isn't breathtaking. But for just a refresh, the progress is impressive.
More trims, more technology and a bit more sporty and refined car, overall.
But the most import thing is, that with each new model, Toyota is getting rid of a little bit more of its beige image.
Turning the biggest automaker in the world, 180 degrees. is not an easy or fast job, it is as hard as trying to make scientists out of taliban and meatheads. But like I said it before, Akio Toyoda is the right man for the job.
He is one of us, unlike many other CEO's, he sees cars as more than a mean to get money and market share, he loves them and I am happy that an enthusiast leads such a big company.
He likes to hang around, to have fun and it isn't afraid of competitors, he loves them. Why? Because his competitors are doing their best, to build amazing things, we all love. Just like himself.
Being conventional and restrained, that's not his style. Conformist? No way, being a rockstar CEO is what he likes, and he does it so natural. He may not destroy hotel rooms, but he will personally approve a pink paintjob for the essentially conservative Crown.
Why? Because why the fuck not?
He is also pushing for a car that has LCD screens instead of body panels. Why? Because he understood that cars need to bring joy to both enthusiasts and non-enthusiasts, alike.
He was hooning a concept, on stage, in front of Tokyo Motor Show's, audience, just because it seemed like fun.
He is taking Lexus from a snorefest, to a bold brand that everybody talks about, by that, doing what each and everyone of us, secretly dreams.
When he speaks, the automotive world, listens.
He may not be very tall, but he is a giant in his spirit.

It still seems, slightly dull.
I think that they should discontinue the Camry nameplate in general. Replace it with something else.

wow, that interior is great! Good write up sir. The most Jalop of all CEO's is the man for the job.
As for enthusiasts
These kids need to see some form of German label to give it any credit unfortunately.
yeah I said it, what's up homes...

Marketing department would explode, and other nameplates of that size Toyota has, are the even more conservative Aurion(not even the TRD trim is not helping the poor thing).
And the Euro Avensis.
I doubt that the name would sound very good to American ears.

Same. Saving Toyota might be harder than expected.
A Scion sedan, that might be a good idea.

Didn't people do this with the new Civic Type-R? The Camry is such a money maker because people just trust Toyota and don't want anything "scary" and "different." In the end I only like the Camry because it helped fund cars like the GT-86. I have a feeling if they do bring the mark X over it will be a lexus with their overdone styling.

Yeah, I believe so. The Camry was only good for the Gt-86 and those rarity manual trans models.

Nope. Taking a dull person and giving them a make over does not stop them from being a dull person. Just a better dressed dull person. when you key notes are styling, techno gee wiz gadgets and re branding all your doing is trying to hid the fact the car still sucks. I mean no not suck in a "wow what a POS "sort of way but rather in the "Wow where is my steering feed back, omg could this thing be vague in responce to how i turn the wheel, ok now I'm at 4500 rpm how am i not moving faster, oh there it goes, ect sort of way.. seriously it's much ado about nothing. couldn't care less what toys or sytle they put on these things, they are on par with a washing machine and the people who buy them enjoy that about them. they dont care how they drive, they care does it look good? does it turn on and get me to work then home before CSI Nebraska comes on. its a boring car for boring people who do boring things but still want others to think they are something differnt.. moving on now.

So, is the new Camry safer in a front collision? Because I still see myself as wanting to drive it into a wall. I would be fine, of course, because it is grounded to the ground.
